Chapter 27 of Acts details the storm and shipwreck that Paul experienced during his voyage to Rome. This chapter is an important story that shows Paul's faith and God's protection.
1. Paul’s voyage to Rome begins (verses 1-8)
- Departure and Companions : Paul and several other prisoners board a ship under the command of the centurion Julius to be sent to Rome. Among those who accompanied Paul were Luke and Aristarchus.
- Voyage route : They set out on a ship from Adramyttheno, stop at Sidon, and then sail on. The wind is not good during sailing, so we proceed slowly along the coast.
- Finally arriving at Mira : At Mira, transfer to a ship bound for Italy that departs from Alexandria.
2. Storm crisis (verses 9-20)
- Paul's Warning : As the voyage becomes dangerous, Paul warns the centurion and captain not to continue the voyage, but they do not listen to him.
- The Beginning of a Storm : Soon enough, a strong storm called Yuragullo blows and tosses the ship.
- Distress : The ship loses direction and drifts amidst dark clouds and storms for days. The sailors abandon their luggage and even throw the ship's equipment into the sea.
3. Paul’s encouragement and God’s promise (verses 21-26)
- Paul's encouragement : When everyone is in despair, Paul comes forward and encourages people. He says an angel appeared and promised that his life and that of everyone else would be preserved.
- Arriving at the Island : Paul predicts that although the ship will be damaged, everyone will arrive at an island safely.
4. Damage and rescue of the ship (verses 27-44)
- 14th Night : On the 14th night of the storm, the sailors sense that they are approaching land. I measured the depth of the water and found that it was getting shallower.
- Sailors Trying to Run Away : Some sailors tried to run away by lowering the lifeboats, but Paul stopped them. The centurion orders the soldiers to cut off the lifeboat.
- Meals and Encouragement : Paul encourages everyone to eat and be refreshed. He eats the food and says a prayer of thanks to God, and then everyone else follows suit.
- Lightening the ship : The crew throws away all of the ship's cargo for the last time, making the ship as light as possible.
- Stranding and Escape : In the morning, they steer their boat toward the beach, but it gets caught in the shallows and the boat runs aground. As the waves begin to destroy the ship, the soldiers fear that the prisoners will escape and try to kill them. However, the centurion stops this to save Paul.
- Survival for all : Under the command of a centurion, the men swim or cling to the broken pieces of the ship and make their way to the beach. As Paul prophesied, all 276 people landed safely.

Acts 27 describes Paul's dramatic voyage and God's salvation on his journey to Rome. Even in difficult situations, Paul believes in God's promises and encourages others, showing that his faith actually works out as God promised. This story emphasizes the power of faith and God's protection.
